  30. Shareware Installation Instructions:

  32. The Astrology for Windows program, version 2.3, comes in a
  33. self-extracting Windows executable - ASTWIN23.EXE.  Once you have
  34. downloaded this program to your computer, double-click from Explorer on
  35. the file.  The WinZip extraction program will confirm that you want to
  36. extract all the files to the C:\WINASTRO directory, which it will create
  37. for you.

  39. The final act of the extraction process is to run the INSTALL1.EXE
  40. program - this will ask in which of the 13 available languages you want
  41. your program to be and will add the Halloran Software program group and
  42. astrology item icons to your Windows desktop [you yourself can rerun the
  43. INSTALL1.EXE program in the future].

  45. In Windows 95/98, select Start, Programs, Halloran Software and click on
  46. the moon icon item in order to run the Astrology for Windows program.

  48. Troubleshooting
  49. ---------------
  50. If during installation you get a message that a file cannot be copied,
  51. it may be because that file or an older version of it is in use.  Restart
  52. Windows and close any programs like screen savers which are in your
  53. Windows start-up.  Then rerun the Astrology for Windows installation.
  54.  
  55. If you get a message that a VBX file (such as GRID.VBX, COMMDLG.VBX, or
  56. THREED.VBX) is out of date, this is usually because an outdated file
  57. is in your Windows directory.  If a more recent version is in your
  58. Windows\System directory or in the astrology directory, then disable
  59. the file in the Windows directory by renaming it (e.g., with *.SAV
  60. instead of *.VBX) and copy the latest version to the Windows\System
  61. directory.  Then restart Windows and try to run our program again.

  63. Welcome to the Program
  64. ----------------------
  65. Astrology for Windows and its parent AstrolDeluxe for Windows are able
  66. to do amazing things that are only possible within the Windows
  67. environment.  These programs give you better color printing than any
  68. program for the DOS environment.  The drop-down list boxes provide
  69. convenient access to data such as your saved charts, geographic data,
  70. and time zones.  Other list boxes let you scroll natal and transiting
  71. aspects and copy this text data to the Windows clipboard.  You can use
  72. the clipboard to copy and paste the planet and house positions in
  73. numerical form into a Windows spreadsheet.  Via the clipboard, you can
  74. paste graphic wheels into resizable frames in a Windows word processor. 
  75. The program will even automatically resize the detailed color Atlas
  76. maps, the graphic chart displays, and the Natal Information screen for
  77. whatever screen resolution you have Windows set.

  79. Astrology for Windows includes context-sensitive Windows Help.  This
  80. means that help specific to any point in the program is available just
  81. by pressing the F1 function key.  If you want to read the manual,
  82. select Contents.  To search for help on a specific program area, select
  83. Search and type in the name of the desired function or topic.  Select
  84. File and Print from the Windows Help menu to print any one topic for
  85. later reference.
